Standing Firm on Jesus' Promises Standing Firm on Jesus' Promises Standing Firm on Jesus' Promises Standing Firm on Jesus' Promises

God loves you, God knows you, and God has made an unbreakable promise about your future. These three truths are not complicated theological concepts reserved for scholars. They are as simple and as deep as the childhood song most of us grew up singing. In John 15, Jesus spoke to His disciples just hours before His crucifixion, making one thing unmistakably clear: His love for them was real, personal, and sacrificial. John 3:16 echoes that same truth on a cosmic scale, declaring that God loved the world so deeply that He gave His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. And in 1 John, the Apostle John brings it home by arguing that we cannot fully understand what love even means until we encounter the love God demonstrated through Jesus.

Being fully known by God can feel unsettling at first. Hebrews 4 does not shy away from that tension, describing God's Word as a sharp sword that exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing is hidden from Him. But the same passage immediately offers reassurance: because Jesus lived a fully human life, experiencing grief, temptation, and pain, He understands our weaknesses from the inside. That means we can come boldly and honestly to God, without pretense or polished language, and find mercy and grace exactly when we need it most.

The third truth is perhaps the most hope-filled of all. Paul wrote from a prison cell, chained between Roman guards, and yet overflowed with joy because he was convinced that God, who had begun a good work in the people he loved, would see it through to completion. That same promise belongs to every believer. Through the Holy Spirit, we are being transformed daily into the image of Christ. And when Jesus returns, that transformation will extend even to our bodies, which will be raised and glorified just as His was. Whatever season of life you find yourself in right now, God has not abandoned the work He started in you. He loves you, He knows you, and He is not finished with you yet.
