Every one of us has stood at the edge of something that felt impossible to cross. Health crises, broken relationships, addiction, anxiety, and loss all have a way of making us feel trapped with no way forward. The story of the Israelites at the Red Sea captures that feeling perfectly. They had just walked out of Egypt, witnessed miracle after miracle, and tasted freedom for the first time. Then Pharaoh changed his mind. His army closed in from behind while the Red Sea stretched out endlessly in front of them. That is what a real obstacle feels like: not just inconvenient, but completely impossible.
Fear has a powerful grip. It clouds judgment, distorts perspective, and makes us forget what we know to be true about God. But fear is not the final word, and the Israelites proved it. Rather than letting fear define them, they cried out to God and trusted Him. And because of that trust, Moses stretched out his hand, the waters parted, and they walked through on dry ground. This is the heart of what faith actually means. Faith is not simply believing that God exists. Even demons believe that. Faith is trusting God, depending on Him, and then taking action based on that trust. The sea did not part before the Israelites moved. It parted because they moved.
Every time we step out in faith, our spiritual footing grows steadier. Looking back after a hard season is not just an act of gratitude. It is an act of preparation. When we remember how God brought us through the last impossible moment, we face the next one with greater confidence. Even death itself, the ultimate Red Sea for many people, is not the final obstacle for those who belong to Jesus. It is the moment when all pain and loss fall away and eternity with God begins. Whatever obstacle is in front of you right now, it is not bigger than the God who parts seas. Faith will keep you on your trail.
